RADICAL CUP AUSTRALIA HEADS WEST TO JOIN SUPERCARS

THE all-new Radical Cup Australia will head west in its debut season, joining the Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight Supercars event at Wanneroo Raceway this April 30 – May 1.

It marks the first time that a one-make Sports Car class will have raced at the famous circuit to the North of Perth.

Perth is a perhaps surprising stronghold of Radical competition in Australia, thanks to the ever-growing presence of Wanneroo-based Arise Racing.

Arise is the Western Australia distributor of Radical Cars in Australia and operates a fleet of both customer-owned and team vehicles in the WA State Championship.

The Radical Cup Australia field heading West will see the local competitor base join forces with the best from the national series for a spectacular field at the 2.4km circuit, Arise Racing expecting at least 12 local entries to compete.

The addition of the Perth round completes the planned five-event Radical Cup Australia schedule, the event slotting in as the second round of the series - between already confirmed trips to Phillip Island in March and Sydney Motorsport Park in late May.

Inclusion on the Supercars program includes broadcast coverage on Fox Sports and Kayo Sport, with TV coverage details to be confirmed.

The event format will be announced in due course.

JORDAN OON – Radical Australia West

“We’re delighted that the Radical Cup Australia (RCA) will be part of the 2022 Bunnings Perth SuperNight Event this April/May!

“Both Radical Australia West and Radical Australia East’s vision for the reinvigorated RCA is to establish it as a Premier National Championship, with Radical Drivers and Owners able to access comprehensive Dealer support Australia wide.

“Securing this Support Category position will go a long way into building this foundation and will be the first time a one-make Sportscar category has ever raced in WA.

“Feedback from local Arise Racing drivers and crew has been universally positive, and I think all are keen to take it to the Eastern Staters with a bit of friendly competition. We expect to run a minimum of 12 cars from Arise Racing and are anticipating total grid sizes of 20 and above, which will make for a great spectacle around Wanneroo Raceway.

CHARISE BRISTOW – Category Manager

“It’s a big thing for the category to add a Supercars round in our first year, especially one with significance to the Radical brand like racing in Perth.

“Radical Australia West and Arise Racing are key components of Radical Cup Australia this year so heading over there was a key component of putting on a truly national series that was accessible for Radical competitors wherever they may be.

“We’re excited to head west in late April and showcase the series in front of the Perth Supercars fans.”
