REMARKABLY Close practice times point to another incredibly competitive round of First Focus Radical Cup Australia this weekend at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in South Australia.
Despite a disrupted morning where several hours were lost to persistently foggy conditions, a re-jigged practice program for the afternoon delivered plenty of intensity as the field builds towards qualifying on Sunday morning.
In what eventually turned out to be cool but sunny conditions, Peter Paddon topped the times for the day, his 1m49.6015s flyer the only lap beneath the one minute 50 seconds barrier.
Josh Hunt ended the day second in the Volante Rosso entry he shares with Peter Clare, with the pacy returning duo of Jordan Oon and Adam Lisle third, making it one each for GWR, Volante Rosso and Arise Racing in the top three on Friday’s combined times.
Cooper Cutts – a podium finisher at The Bend last year – was fourth overall despite an off in the final session, with the returning Caleb Sumich, the 2022 winner in South Australia, placing fifth in the car he’ll share with John DiGiovanni this weekend.
Terry Knowles and Barton Mawer ended the day in sixth overall with Bryce Moore and Chris Reindler next, Volante Rosso’s Melinda Price and Greg Kenny, Brad Russell and Ash Samadi completing the top 10.
The field will roll for qualifying just after 8:15am local time on Saturday morning before Race 1 commences at 1:00pm and runs for 45 Minutes.
The race will be streamed live on Blend Line TV’s YouTube channel, which will be available via the Radical website.
