GT Festival Phillip Island schedule confirmed

Round 1 of First Focus Radical Cup Australia is locked in.

The provisional schedule for SRO Motorsports Australia’s first ever Shannons SpeedSeries round has been confirmed with a bumper timetable on the cards for the highly-anticipated GT Festival Phillip Island.

With more than 18 hours of track time and a variety of activations forming part of the season opener, there will be plenty of eyes on Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for the event.

Headlining the event will be the nation’s best GT3 cars as GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS leads a strong bill of support categories for the three-day race meeting.

Forming part of the jam-packed schedule will be Monochrome GT4 Australia, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, First Focus Radical Cup Australia and Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia, the last of which makes just its second appearance in Australia.

All three days of the event will follow a similar rundown which begins from 9.05am and concludes at 4:50pm local time, with the Radicals and Ferrari Challenge kicking off festivities, while GT World Challenge Australia wraps up each day.

Both GT World Challenge Australia and GT4 Australia will run with their traditional formats of Free Practice 1 and Pre-qualifying on Friday and two 10-minute qualifying sessions and a race to occur on both Saturday and Sunday.

Similar to both GT categories, Ferrari Challenge’s two practice sessions on Friday will be followed by qualifying and a 30-minute race on both Saturday and Sunday.

Radical Cup Australia and Porsche Sprint Challenge each have three races across the weekend - two of which are sprints and their final outings being an endurance race.

Fans will have the chance to get up close with a number of race cars on the track, with open grid walks on Sunday ahead of the Ferrari Challenge and GT World Challenge Australia races.

The opening round of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ GT Festival Phillip Island takes place at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 4-6 April.

Tickets to the GT Festival Phillip Island can be purchased via speedseries.com.au
