CLARE & HUNT LEAD THE WAY ON DAY 1 OF NEW SEASON

The Volante Rosso Motorsport team of Peter Clare and Josh Hunt have emerged fastest after three practice sessions for the first round of the Workhorse Radical Cup Australia at Sydney Motorsport Park.

They were the quickest in both daylight sessions with a best of 1 minute 29.3133 seconds in session one, before Jordan Oon and Zara Horn from West Australian-based Arise Racing topped the third outing, held under lights. Their 1:29.6100 was good enough for second overall.

Their teammate Elliott Schutte who is racing solo, was third quickest with his time out of the second session. Team BRM’s Mark Rosser and two-time Australian Drivers Champion Joey Mawson were fourth fastest ahead of Volante Rosso Alex Gardner. The young kart protégé missed most of the opening session, his Radical parked out of turn eight when it went into limp mode.

The first of the NSW Garth Walden Racing entries with sixth placed Peter Paddon just in front of his teammate and reigning Chris Perini, Cooper Cutts from Arise Racing, Aus Nets’ Terry Knowles and Bart Mawer, and tenth overall Zig Fuhrmeister.

The third of the volante Rosso entries with Greg Kenny and Melinda Price were eleventh ahead of Brad Russell, Andrew Eldridge, Stephen Champion, Ash Samadi, Simon Arthur, James Hernandez, Sue Hughes and Warwick Churche.
